NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is not a peptide but a pyridine nucleotide coenzyme present in every living cell. It is included in this catalogue because it is supplied in the same pre-filled pen format.

NAD+ has two distinct roles. In its redox role it cycles between NAD+ and NADH, carrying electrons through glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation - the central path by which cells extract usable energy from nutrients. In its non-redox role it is consumed as a substrate by three enzyme families: the sirtuins (SIRT1-7), which act on protein deacetylation and mitochondrial regulation; the PARPs, which participate in DNA damage response; and CD38.

Because those consuming enzymes degrade the molecule rather than recycle it, cellular NAD+ has to be continuously resynthesised, and measured tissue levels decline with age in several published models. This is the observation behind current research interest in NAD+ and its precursors.

Injectable NAD+ is not an approved drug product. Supplied in a 3 mL pre-filled pen at 100 mg/mL (300 mg total).
